More Affordable Metals Continue to Rise in Popularity–With the skyrocketing of gold prices in the past few years, gold has taken a back seat to silver. Now, the price of silver is also on the rise. As the economic crisis continues, other metals are rising in popularity as well. Copper, brass, steel and pewter are much more affordable choices for everyday wear and are available in more and more designs and styles these days. Although yellow gold may be out of the financial reach of the masses, those who prefer this metal are looking for more affordable alternatives to still be able to wear their favorite metal color. Sterling silver has always been a more affordable way to wear beautiful jewelry and remains a favorite for jewelry staples, but other metals are allowing us to afford more bling for our buck!

Pantone, a leading authority on color trends, has declared that honeysuckle, a deep, rich pink, is the color of the year, so expect to see a lot of deep pink tones this year’s jewelry. Gemstones in rich hues are also in style.
The Classics are Never Out of Fashion–Pearls, stud earrings and hoop earrings seem to always be in style. Simple pendant necklaces are always a safe bet, too.
Back to Nature Perhaps–Natural materials have long been a big draw for accessories and this trend continues to grow. Wood and shell are still popular materials in fashion jewelry this year, as well as feathers.

Shorter, But Heavier Necklaces, Dangling Earrings–Longer necklaces were the big trend last year, and multiple strands are still a good bet, though the layered look is giving way this year to shorter, but bolder, neckwear with
